Hosted Disaster Recovery Services
Corporate DR Requirements
Most corporates have a requirement for Disaster Recovery to ensure business continuity if production fails.
Different DR services usually vary in the recovery Time (time to get systems back online with valid data) versus the cost (together with the Recovery point - when the DR data set was taken). This trade-off is not linear, as detailed in the below
The cost for hot failover systems increases dramatically as the recovery time objective shortens.
For highly available systems, server application and data clustering is required, and can be extremely costly.
Similarly, for data backup and archiving tape backup, offsite storage of data is inexpensive however the recovery times are longer, and may not support the business requirement.
While tape backup is almost always required, this does not always provide for reasonable recovery times, especially when non-critical servers are considered.
The RightServ Live DR server offering is positioned directly between these services in terms of recovery time, but at a fraction of the cost of hot standby servers.
In addition, the Live DR service can be utilised for other purposes (e.g.: Software patch testing), thereby delivery additional value for your DR spend.
This service provides for a complete DR service with reasonable recovery times (1 hour to 1 day), whist at the same time keeping the cost of running the DR service low.
